Later on they were replaced by tyred shovels, working with diesel motor, which are still in use.
The galleries were dug with a constant inclination of about 1,5°: the difference of level from the entrance is, in fact, of about 9,5 meters. This technique allowed to make the seepage waters flow toward the outside. The talc mined at the upper levels was transported downward thanks to hoppers, inclined ducts similar to slides where the wagons were unloaded.
To point out to the miners their position in comparison to the outside they used signs showing the distance covered from the entrance.
