These are the first showcases of the museum and they are represented on the scheme in violet. Here two great collections are displayed. The first four hold mineral from Catalonia and the others five displays mineral from other parts of the world. Both the collections are classified on the grounds of the different mineralogical groups. The exposures combine both mineralogical interests and more spectacular ones. In the showcases devoted to the Catalan minerals can be found fifty six sulphides, forty four oxides, seventeen allures, thirty-three carbonates, thirty-five sulphates, five arsenic compounds, ten phosphates and seventy silicates. Besides in the inferior part there are 21 pieces of great dimensions. There are two mineral particularly worthy of note one for its shortage in Catalonia and the other both because it is precious and scarce on a worldwide scale (piroxmangita).
