An interactive visit to Valentì Masachs Museum
The collection of radioactive minerals is divided into two parts containing 17 different minerals. The radioactive minerals are formed by elements emittings radiations. On the left there are the uranium phosphates coming both from the Spanish regions and from other parts of the world. The uranium is formed from three isotopes: 234U,235U y238Us. It is a highly reactive element, for this it is not possible to find it in the natural state. The uranium compounds which developed during the reaction with other elements and substances, dissolve in water. The solubility in water of an uranium compound causes the mineral mobility in the environment besides its toxicity.
