Patch is a Piebald Cob Pony. He is 1.4 m height (14 hands and 1 inch) and was born in 1993.

He worked in Nant Fach Colliery, in South Wales, and he has spent much of his working life in a twilight existence below ground, plodding through dirty water and potholes. Now Patch has a soft spot for potted flowers, especially their taste and has been known to open the field gates and untie ropes.

He is now on loan from the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, http://www.rspca.org.uk) and came to the museum in 1999 when Nant Fatch closed.
