During the 1984/5 strike, as in other strikes, miners used slogans to show what they were fighting for. These slogans were often chanted by large groups of people on colliery picket lines in order to try and stop other miners returning to work. Some of the common slogans from the 1984/5 strike included 'Coal not Dole', 'Victory to the Miners' and 'The Miners United will Never be Defeated.'
