The 1926 lockout was initially supported by many trades and industries, and resulted in a General Strike which lasted for nine days. After this time the miners were left to fight on alone, and were locked out from May to November. Many of the newspapers published at that time were not generally supportive of the miners and their aims. The Coal Strike Times was published by Coal Industry Publications, and gave opinions from the owners' viewpoint. It includes articles on topics such as wages and hours worked, national agreements and general issues surrounding the 1926 stoppage.
