Many miners have first-aid or rescue training in case of an emergency down the mine, and each pit has rescue men. The main mines rescue services would be stationed above ground and at a central site. These rescue services have specially trained people ready at a moment's notice to go to the aid of miners who are in trouble.
To arrive at a site speedily in case of an emergency, modern rescue teams have to have transport and the proper equipment. This rescue van is in the Museum's main gallery. The vans contain different equipment needed to rescue someone, such as breathing equipment and various tools.
