On the wooden beams, above all the chestnut ones, some kinds of mushrooms "corticicoli" and crusty find an ideal micro-environment. The life of these organisms is possible thanks to the tunnels' high degree of humidity and to the nourishment absorbed from the wood thanks to the symbiosis with the latter.

It is also possible to observe some Basidium mycetes.
Thanks to the damp the wood micro capillary roots hang from the trunks.
