When Harold walked through the door Elsie said excitedly,
"Mother,oh mother, Harold is home with the meat. Can we have tea now?"
"Course we can. Hand over the meat now Harold." Auntie Mabel said finishing her peggy rug.
"Mother, the butcher man says that you have to go steady until the rest of the week because we have hardly any coupons left for meat!" Harold told his mother.
"Ohhhh we haven't have we, sorry Elsie we can't have shepherds pie on Thursday," Mrs Lockwood said devastatingly.
"Never mind," said Elsie looking down at her feet.
"Look, as an apology, you can have your friends round for tea as well as to play," Auntie Mabel suggested.
"Yes please,"Elsie said joyfully.
