On a wet soggy day Elsie was ordered to go get a pound of bacon, she did exactly what she was told but as she was leaving the butchers she dropped the ration book out of her satchel, she didn't notice at first and left the shop without a worry in the world. She was usaully careless and always dropped things, but she often noticed, this time she didn't. She decided to run home so she could tell her mum how good she was at her friend's house. At the house Mrs Lockwood was waiting in her arm chair for her daughter to come. There was a crispy smell in the house and knew tea was being cooked as she stepped in the house she wiped her shoes (as she always did) and licked her lips.
